MIRI MEDERA, INTERPLANAR POTION-MAKER

I thought I knew what the Potion Masters offered. I didn’t suspect for a moment they would lie.

Miri Medera

Miri Medera dreams of fame, for she knows that fame leads to friendship. She struggles to make friends at her school for young potion-makers, even despite her fun-loving nature and tendency to crack wise. So when she gets chosen to undertake quests in a realm of unfettered nature, she sees her opportunity to carve her name into alchemical history. If she fails, though, she’ll return with a shameful reputation. Friendless for life, a fate worse than death.

As she ’splores, she shares her discoveries with her only companion: her journal. But the more she follows the instruction of the Potion Masters, the more she finds that she’s causing harm to this magical realm, and the more she questions her teachers’ motives for sending her there in the first place. She’s forced to choose whether to give up a guaranteed ticket to the future of her dreams, or to destroy the Plane which continues to prove its selflessness time and again.

A BOY FROM NORRU

You’ve always got a trick up your sleeve, captain. You can’t help it.

Clement of Graysea

Eleven-year-old apprentice spaceship mechanic Alix Pelior wants nothing more than to search the stars and find his parents, but he’s too worried about the “what-ifs.” He doesn’t have much choice in the matter, though, when he’s whisked away from his home planet by an infamous smuggler-thief called Captain Ironfist, who turns out to be a young girl with a cybernetic arm. Aboard that spaceship, he meets his first ever friends—and his new heist crew.

In the following weeks, he infiltrates the capital of the civilized galaxy, robs a nefarious gang, and navigates a war-ridden planet. But after he freezes up during a critical moment, his smuggler-thief captain is captured by “the Prince,” one of the deadliest warriors in the galaxy. Alix must learn to trust in himself and his decisions, or else lose the only family he’s ever known.
